Jessica Castro Gomez Spends 12 weeks with Climatepedia

Jessica is a fourth year Global Health major from San Francisco, CA. she is passionate about social justice and helping people. During her free time, Jessica enjoys camping, hiking, and spending time with friends.


Climatepedia is an organization that communicates how climate change is impacting people and different communities through internship programs. During her time with Climatepedia, Jessica followed a climate science and justice curriculum, which included weekly conference calls to discuss the material with mentors and fellow interns. During the 12 weeks, she led a discussion session on the topics, wrote an op-ed on climate change solutions for her community, created lesson plans for 6th grade classrooms, and created materials to educate those who are not aware of climate change and the impacts. Jessica gained climate literacy skills and a sense of leadership through this field experience while acquiring new skills for networking.
